Administrative Assistant (OA)

If selected for this position, you will serve as an Administrative Assistant (OA) for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), District of Rhode Island. Typical work assignments will include:
Compose correspondence such as letters, endorsements, memoranda and electronic correspondence from records or files maintained. Establish and maintain office files, records, logs and manuals in accordance with specified file systems and office needs. Search files and locate material and information upon request or for use in preparation of reports. Obtain information from appropriate personnel and/or statistical information. Maintain a variety of office logs and suspense files in accordance with USAO policy Provide a variety of word-processing, database management, email and graphics support. Compile and print reports for files, verifying information is accurate and complete. Set up formats for a variety of reports. Provides guidance and assistance on applicable procedures, instructions, and regulations. GS-05:
To be eligible at the GS-05 grade GS-5level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized
Experience:
You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4GS-04 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience answering multi line telephone systems, greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries, providing factual information, receiving, sorting and distributing mail, producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software, entering information into an automated database and/or maintaining files. -OR- Education:
Bachelor's degree or 4 academic years of education above high school level leading to a Bachelor's degree, in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combining Education and
Experience:
Combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours, (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if:
1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
